The challenge to renovate and expand this existing two truck bay fire station was to keep it in full operation throughout the construction process. Through careful exploration of different systems, scheduling techniques, and solid design, the challenge was met. Two additional truck bays were created, while maintaining context with the residential surroundings via gables and asphalt shingles. When this state-of-the-art station was completed, enough money remained in the budget to purchase additional equipment for the firefighters.
